Anyhow, here we have strawberries, half a three egg tamagoyaki, steamed rice with shichimi togharashi on it ( I love a hit of spice in the winter) and some broccoli. Simple but good.
I love strawberries, even though they're out of season I spotted them on offer and had to have them. For some reason I can't stand strawberry-flavoured anything though, absolutely turns me.

Top left going clockwise we have soy sauce mushrooms, Broccoli with cheese, a peanut-butter cup, a one egg tamagoyaki and grapes. No carbs, but even so, really tasty.
Cant get enough of those mushrooms, got chestnut mushrooms and they just taste great fried dry and then splashed in soy, could eat them all day. Wednesdays' is a tad late, apologies. Wed is the day I and a few friends meet up and have a few drinks, I will have to set a reminder for myself from now on... Clockwise from top left we have green grapes, cheese (mature cheddar mmmmm...), baby-corn, mushroom and ham stir-fry, broccoli, ginger/soy/chilli rice noodles, pickled onions and fried broccoli stalk. Really filling bento today, I couldn't finish it all...
Here we have a case of 'what have I got left in the damn fridge?' added to 'oh no! I'm late!' Lunch therefore is a little boring. On the left we have green grapes, mushrooms fried in soy sauce and pickled onions (really have to buy more of those), and the right has steamed broccoli and some sliced ham.
What can I say? It filled a hole, but I wouldn't rave about it, and I don't plan on having the same thing again any-time soon... Also bad photo is bad... Clockwise from top left we have sautéed broccoli stalk, pickled onions, one egg tamagoyaki, steamed broccoli, Rice noodles in a chilli, soy and sesame oil dressing (they got a little stuck together so I'm going to use a bit more next time), a cheese and sesame snaps
Went meat-free today, but with the egg I didn't miss it at all. On top we have steamed rice topped with peas and scrambled egg, between the rice and toppings there is a layer of torn-up nori (forgot to include my little bottle of soy in the picture, I'll try and remember for next time). In the top tier at the bottom of the picture we have seasoned broccoli, pickled onions and mushrooms fried in soy-sauce. Love my little picks, they just brighten up my day. They're from the Giant of course. Sorry this one's so late, the internet decided to crap out yesterday.
Smaller lunch today (I have plans for a big dinner), from the top we have ham and cheese roll-ups, orange jelly, green grapes, cherries and a chocolate treat.
Tried a calorie count for this one; 2 slices ham - 190cal 2 slices cheese - 140cal sugar-free jelly - 8cal each fruit - 40cal total treat - 56cal Total - 442cal approx Not as low as I thought it would be as the ham and cheese brought it up, but not as bad as some of the lunches I have been eating lately. (cal I got either from the packets or ) Starting from the top left going clockwise we have fried rice with baby corn, snow peas, mushroom and onion, orange jelly, cherries green grapes and more jelly. The rice was great, added hot sauce to give it a bit of a kick (turned it a bit red/orange though). Great filling lunch with us in such a cold snap.
Great news as well! We got oil delivered today! Warm house for the win! I got to cook with some feeling in my hands for the first time in what seems forever, so happy today. Also went to the cinema to see Jack Reacher, not bad but it came across a bit Bond meets Punisher, and I'm personally not a big bond fan, but it was ok at £3 for the matinee. Hoping to update the giants once he gets home from work so I can get the pictures from his phone, check back later tonight. Massive lunch for the colder weather today, clockwise from top we have string cheese and a one egg tamagoyaki, green grapes and cherries, mini orange jellies, and stir-fry with mushrooms, baby corn, chilli and rice noodles. In the centre we have a chocolate treat and some sesame snaps. Delicious.
The giant had pulled pork in sandwiches, but sadly no picture. Maybe tomorrow. Catch up from Thursday as well as todays' bentos, double the fun. Above we have mixed vegetable stir-fry (mushroom, broccoli and bean sprouts), a ham and cheese roll-up, cherries, and plum and apple slices (dipped in some lemon juice). The giant got a bunch of mini quiches in silicone bun cases, they were filled with cheddar and broccoli. Today I munched my way through more of the stir-fry from the day before, cherries (again), grapes and carrot sticks. Once it was all cut up I realised that the little stack of sticks doesn't even look like a half portion but there's a whole carrot in there. I also packed myself a little dessert. I made up mini jellies in the silicone bun cases (sugar free) The giant just got sandwiches for himself today, so no picture. The top bento had a little ham, but the other two are vegetarian (even the jelly!).
Also today is the first proper snow of the year in my area, absolutely freezing! And of course our heating oil ran out this morning, currently not amused. Fingers crossed we will get a delivery on Monday, until then wish me luck. |
